Smoothies can be a powerful snack time punch of nutrients, but they can also be a tall glass of unwanted calories & excessive sugar if not done properly. This green monster is smoothie snacking done right! It's not overly sweet and its filled with nutrients, fiber, and some complete protein from hulled hemp seeds.
Most of us, when smoothie-ing, make a common mistake and that is going overboard with the fruit... like way-more-than-we'd-ever-eat-in-one-sitting overboard in our smoothies. Yes fruit is good for us, but even too much of good things can turn them into not-so-good things. All that fruit turns into sugars, and although they are natural sugars, that smoothie still sends our bodies into sweet chaos. The trick is to keep the fruit to a healthy minimum, add in fiber, veggies, and some sort of protein source to keep things SUPER charged instead of SUGAR charged.
There's a lot of vitamin C, beta carotene, fiber, and omega 3-s in this here smoothie! Hulled hemp seeds or hemp hearts are a rarely seen complete plant protein (meaning it contains all the essential amino acids), which is pretty cool. Make this smoothie, drink half now, and save the other half for later!
